Archery rounds are a way of organising and scoring archery competitions. Each round consists of a specific number of arrows shot at specified distances and target sizes. The different rounds are designed to test the archer's skill, accuracy, and consistency. Here are some of the most common archery rounds:

Imperial Rounds

Imperial rounds are traditional British rounds that use yards as the unit of measurement. Some of the popular imperial rounds include:

  • York Round: 6 dozen arrows at 100 yards, 4 dozen arrows at 80 yards, and 2 dozen arrows at 60 yards.
  • Hereford Round: 6 dozen arrows at 80 yards, 4 dozen arrows at 60 yards, and 2 dozen arrows at 50 yards.
  • National Round: 4 dozen arrows at 60 yards and 2 dozen arrows at 50 yards.

Metric Rounds

Metric rounds use metres as the unit of measurement and are recognised internationally. Some of the popular metric rounds include:

  • FITA Round: 3 dozen arrows at 90 metres, 3 dozen arrows at 70 metres, 3 dozen arrows at 50 metres, and 3 dozen arrows at 30 metres for men. For women, the distances are 70, 60, 50, and 30 metres.
  • FITA 70m Round: 6 dozen arrows at 70 metres.
  • FITA 50m Round: 6 dozen arrows at 50 metres.

Indoor Rounds

Indoor rounds are shot at shorter distances and are typically held in indoor facilities. Some of the popular indoor rounds include:

  • Portsmouth Round: 5 dozen arrows at 20 yards.
  • Worcester Round: 5 dozen arrows at 20 yards, shot on a black and white target face.
  • Vegas Round: 3 rounds of 10 ends, with 3 arrows per end, shot at 18 metres.

Field Rounds

Field rounds are shot in a natural environment, with targets placed at varying distances and angles. Some of the popular field rounds include:

  • Field Round: 24 targets, with 3 arrows per target, shot at distances ranging from 5 to 60 metres.
  • Hunter Round: 28 targets, with 4 arrows per target, shot at distances ranging from 5 to 70 metres.
  • 3D Round: Targets are 3D animal replicas, with varying distances and scoring zones.

Clout Rounds

Clout rounds involve shooting arrows at a flag (the clout) placed on the ground at long distances. The scoring is based on how close the arrows land to the flag. Some of the popular clout rounds include:

  • GNAS Clout: 36 arrows shot at distances of 180, 140, or 100 yards, depending on the archer's category.
  • Metric Clout: 36 arrows shot at distances of 165, 125, or 100 metres, depending on the archer's category.
